AI use statement

We help organizations use AI responsibly, so we hold our own work to the same standard. This statement explains, in plain language, how AI tools fit into the way we work.

How we use AI

We may use AI tools to support, not replace, our own thinking. For example:

• Drafting first versions of non-confidential material, such as outlines, workshop agendas or training exercises
• Research support: summarizing publicly available reports, standards and policy documents, which we then check against the original sources
• Editing for clarity, plain language and accessibility
• Administrative tasks such as formatting and organizing our own notes

Where we never use AI

• We do not enter client confidential information, personal information or personal health information into public or consumer AI tools.
• We do not use AI to make final judgments, recommendations or assessment findings. Those are always made by a person.
• We do not use AI to generate quotes, testimonials, credentials or citations.
• We do not record or transcribe client meetings with AI tools unless the client has provided consent to do so.

Human review

Anything AI helps produce is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by a person before it is shared. We are accountable for every deliverable, whatever tools were used along the way.

Data handling

Client material is shared only with people working on the engagement. Where a tool is used with client material, it must be one we have reviewed for where data is stored, how long it is kept and whether it is used to train models, and the client must have agreed. We aim to meet our obligations under Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws.

Tools we use, reviewed periodically

We keep a short list of approved tools and review it regularly, or sooner if a tool changes its terms.
